Nuno raves over Liverpool star and former player Fabinho

Wolverhampton Wanderers return to Premier League action tonight, with Liverpool the visitors the Molineux.

The champions are struggling at the moment, and have lost six of their last seven in the competition.

They face a battle to finish in the top four, and Wolves will hope to dent their hopes further.

Part of the reason the Reds have had a tough time this term is the amount of injuries they’ve had.

Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez are all out for the season, and that has seen Fabinho move to central defence in recent months.

There’s a good chance he’ll move back to midfield tonight, and Nuno has been speaking about the Brazilian he used to coach at Rio Ave.

He said (Mirror): “Fabinho is an amazing, fantastic player.

“We were together at the beginning at Rio Ave when he came to Europe.

“It was many years ago and I was just starting.

“We brought two players from Brazil – Filipe Augusto and Fabinho.

“We were together for two weeks when from out of nowhere he goes on loan to Real Madrid.

“I say: ‘phew, I teach this boy very well’. He was a fantastic boy and an amazing football player.”

Nuno must have a lot of pride seeing how good Fabinho has become.

The South American is undoubtedly one of the finest holding midfield players in the world at the moment.

Him having to fill in at centre-half has really harmed Liverpool in midfield, so him likely returning to his natural position to night is bad news for Wolves.
