Nuno Espirito Santo has delivered an honest verdict on Wolves youngster Owen Otasowie.

The 19-year-old has been knocking on the door of the first-team in recent times, making the matchday squads for Premier League games against Leeds, Crystal Palace and Leicester.

So far, the manager has resisted the temptation to field the youngster as he sticks with more senior options to try and pick up points.

There has been some clamour of late for midfielder Otasowie to get more chances.

It has not been the best start by Wolves in terms of performance, although the club have amassed 13 points from eight games.

Nuno has taken the opportunity to speak about Otasowie, and gave an indication as to how highly he is viewed.

He said (Birmingham Mail): “It’s good to see him going into the USA national team but it’s all about what we can improve to keep on building what we believe can become a very good football player.”

The manager did also make sure to say something seemingly designed to light a fire beneath the youngster.

He added: “A few good things – but he has a lot of bad things that he needs to improve. Besides that, he’s patient enough to know that he has a long road in front of him.”

Otasowie chance pending?

Otasowie clearly has really good potential, and it’s up to him now to respond to Nuno’s comments.

Given how the team has played so far in 2020/21, he’ll surely be feeling confident of being called upon.

To have made the bench for three league games so far is promising, and hopefully he can grab his chance fearlessly when it eventually comes.
