Nuno Espirito Santo has stated Owen Otasowie is ‘an option for us’, following a lack of first-team minutes for Wolverhampton Wanderers of late.

The American midfielder came onto the scene earlier this season for the Wanderers, making his debut against Chelsea in the Premier League in December.

He then started against Burnley, before being handed cameos against Tottenham Hotspur and, most recently, Brighton.

Otasowie missed a golden chance right at the death against the Seagulls, and hasn’t been handed any minutes since, in what seemed like harsh management from Nuno, given there were potential opportunities in the FA Cup.

But Nuno has suggested the player hasn’t been totally fit, despite him consistently making the bench.

He said (Shropshire Star): “It’s going well. He’s training every day.

“He had, some time ago, a problem that saw him miss some parts of training sessions for a period.

“But now, he’s doing well and he’s an option for us.

“We know how he talented is, while there are still things he has to improve.”

Otasowie should play more if he’s fit to do so

It would be great to see more of Otasowie between now and the end of the season.

Him being a young player, it’s understandable that Nuno is being cautious with regards to his game time, especially with the club seemingly now having an outside chance of a Europa League finish.

But he’s shown real promise across his four first-team appearances, and offers something quite different to the likes of technicians Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho.

Hopefully Nuno will find opportunties to involve him more.
