Nuno Espirito Santo has hailed Jonny Castro Otto, after the star signed a new deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 26-year-old has put pen to paper on a fresh contract that will keep him at Molineux until the summer of 2025, in a development that pleasantly surprised supporters.
It comes after a tough old period for the former Atletico Madrid man, who has been on the sidelines for six months after suffering ACL damage last season.
Jonny returned to the starting XI on Sunday against Leicester City, and played the first-half and showed just what the team have been missing while he’s been out.
He was solid defensively, and his return is a major boost for the club.

Speaking of the player in his press conference today, Nuno couldn’t hide his pride.
He said (Wolves official): “It was very important and we are very pleased. I think it was done even before he returned and in the game everybody saw how important he is for us in the concept of our team. We are delighted he put pen to paper on a new contract.
“He’s a very important player because he has all the routines of the team, he’s very competitive, and he’s very talented, so when you have a played with such quality out, you of course miss him.
“He brings this side of his game, all the talent that he has, the way he defends, so he’s huge for us.”
Fantastic news for Wolves
News of Jonny’s extension should be celebrated by Wolves fans far and wide.
The star has been a massive miss this season and is undoubtedly one of the most underrated players in Wolves’ squad.
He has been a brilliant signing since his arrival on loan initially in 2018 (which was turned permanent in January 2019 for £15 million, BBC Sport) and this bumper new contract until 2025 is no less than he deserves.
