Notable absences from Wolves Premier League squad – Two will likely never play under Vitor Pereira again

Vitor Pereira has locked in his Wolves squad for the remainder of the Premier League season.

The Old Gold face a challenging battle until May as Premier League survival is the end goal amid a relegation-threatened opening half of the campaign.

It took Wolves 16 games to sack Gary O’Neil, who passed his squad onto Pereira, who has since boosted morale at Compton Park.

While there is still a considerable task to overcome, Wolves are certainly in a better place with the Portuguese at the helm, with the 25-man squad for the remainder of the season locked in.

Craig Dawson and two others missing from Wolves Premier League squad

Not many would have predicted how the Wolves squad would look after the January transfer window.

Wolves’ club captain at the start of the campaign departed as Mario Lemina joined Galatasaray in a shock transfer saga, with another key player frozen out.

O’Neil was a huge admirer of Craig Dawson but now, the centre-back’s days at Molineux are numbered, particularly after the latest news.

Pereira confirmed his squad for the remainder of the Premier League season, with three notable absences listed.

Dawson, Sasa Kalajdzic and Yerson Mosquera were excluded from the squad, which despite being unsurprising, was a bold move from the Wolves manager.

While Mosquera is recovering from an ACL injury, Kalajdzic and Dawson are now unlikely to represent the Old Gold again.

Kalajdzic has been out of action after undergoing surgery but is not thought to be part of Wolves’ plans, whereas Dawson is in talks to terminate his contract.

It’s quite the turnaround of events for the veteran centre-back, who made 25 Premier League appearances last season.

Several Wolves players have uncertain futures

Dawson’s ship at Molineux has regrettably sailed, which can also be said of Kalajdzic but, the excluded duo aren’t the only ones who are nearing the end of the road at Wolves.

A handful of Wolves players are out of contract in 2025, including captain Nelson Semedo and experienced forward Pablo Sarabia.

There is also a decision to make regarding loan players, as Carlos Forbs has not yet met the conditions required to make his move from Ajax permanent.

Forbs almost returned to Ajax in January due to his lack of game time, making for an interesting end to the season regarding those with doubtful futures.
