‘Not even worth half!’… Wolves fans are all saying the same thing as transfer update leaves many ‘fuming’

With the end of the 2024/25 season in sight, transfer rumours are rolling in regarding Wolves’ summer plans.

After Vitor Pereira orchestrated a successful January window at Wolves, the manager will be eager to bolster his squad once more in the summer.

Pereira has transformed Wolves since his December arrival, with all eyes now on how the boss is supported by Fosun in preparation for next season.

Transfer news is already building ahead of what could be a busy window for the Old Gold.

Though Wolves have found the most success in the Brazilian market in recent years, the summer could see some talent poached much closer to home.

Wolves have been linked to Harvey Elliott of Liverpool, with it understood that the Englishman could become the ‘centrepiece’ of Pereira’s plans.

The likelihood of the Old Gold making a move for the midfielder remains undetermined, particularly after his price tag emerged.

It’s been reported that Wolves will have to pay £40m to sign Elliott, news that rattled supporters in the West Midlands and beyond.

“40m? not even worth half of that,” one perplexed Wolves supporter wrote on X.

As expected, reaction poured in on social media as Wolves fans flooded around the news.

The consensus from fans was that £40m could be better spent elsewhere.

“Not a chance, much better out there for half that price imo,” one supporter said, as others agreed with similar views.

“There’s no way he could be worth £40M without starting more than one PL-game. £25M maybe but not more.”

“£40M for Harvey Elliot is a bit excessive isn’t it,” and, “Price way too high and not consistent enough.”

The narrative of Elliott looking good in a Premier League-winning squad then emerged from some fans.

“Is he any better than Tommy Doyle? Looks decent in a good team, that’s about it.”

“If we spend 40M on this lad I’ll be fuming!! He only looks half decent because he plays with top class players. In truth he’s very average! 40M could be well spent elsewhere!!”

A supporter then argued that Wolves are past the need to overspend on talent, given recent transfer successes.

“Not at that price. Our days of spending £30m+ should be over. We’ve proven you can find top quality players in the £15-£25m bracket and that should be our market.”

Wolves know they don’t need to spend big on talent

Having gotten himself on the scoresheet just four times in his Premier League career, concern is valid, as Wolves would be paying £10m per goal for Elliott.

Already down the pecking order at Liverpool, Wolves shouldn’t consider spending big on a player that, despite being hugely talented, has an inflated price tag.

Given that the Old Gold spent a combined £37m on two hugely impactful players, Andre and Emmanuel Agbadou, paying £3m more for Elliott would be absurd.

Wolves fans aren’t impressed by the news, with the likelihood of the club spending big on an unproven player surely quite slim.
