‘No reason why he shouldn’t’: Wolves legend tips 27y/o to do something very special in two weeks

John Richards says he would be delighted if Hwang Hee-chan equalled a Wolves record he set 50 years go, and believes there’s no reason why he shouldn’t do that.

The South Korean has been absolutely amazing so far this season.

So far, he has scored five league goals.

He also scored against Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup.

Hwang’s form has been extremely refreshing, and he is looking as lethal as when he first came to the club on loan from RB Leipzig.

Hwang’s great form of late has actually now placed him on the cusp of equalling a record that former striker Richards set for Wolves, and the Molineux legend hopes he achieves it…

So Hwang has now scored in each of Wolves’ last five home matches.

His run started at the back end of last season, when he scored in the final game at Molineux against Everton.

This term, Hwang has netted in each of Wolves’ four home games.

If he scores against Newcastle United in two weeks’ time on October 28, then he will join Richards in the Wolves history books.

Richards said (Express & Star): “I didn’t even know there was such a record until after the Villa game Where would we be without statisticians. I love it!

“Wouldn’t it be nice to see that record beaten? For Hwang and the club. It would be fabulous.

“There’s no reason why he shouldn’t beat my record. The way Wolves are playing at the moment, with the quality they have, they will score goals. They’re playing well at the same time, too.

“When Neto gets the ball, I’d do exactly what Hwang is doing at the moment, get in the box and expect a chance to be coming.”

You wouldn’t bet against Hwang

It would be truly amazing to see Hwang, 27, equal a record that Richards set 50 years ago at Wolves.

And pretty much every Wolves fan would hope to see him do it.

Hwang seems a genuine and down to earth person in addition to being a top footballer that works his socks off for the team.

Hopefully, he can find the net against Newcastle, a side he has scored three goals in four appearances against.
