Goncalo Guedes made his Wolves debut in the 0-0 draw with Fulham yesterday.
The 25-year-old was named on the bench by Bruno Lage but came on in the second-half just before the hour mark, replacing Hwang Hee-chan.
Wolves’ level dipped in the second-half at Molineux, and Guedes didn’t have a great deal of involvement as the team sought to break the deadlock.
Guedes only signed for the club on Monday and may need a few weeks to settle in.
But by many accounts, the club have a potential gem on their hands.
The star hit 13 goals for Valencia last season, and the hope is that he can contribute heavily for Wolves in the final third.
One man who knows Guedes quite well is Neves, who is now captain of Wolves following the exit of Conor Coady.
The midfielder delivered his verdict on the star in yesterday’s matchday programme.
He said (via Tim Nash): “I’ve worked with him since I was 15 with the national teams of Portugal and he’s a great player who can help us a lot.
“He’s strong and his physicality will suit the league. He has goals and his shot is unbelievable. So I think he will be a great addition to the squad.
“He’ll settle down with us, we’ll help him as much as we can, and he has all the conditions to play his best football.”
Goncalo Guedes could be a brilliant signing for Wolves
Guedes is a really exciting addition for Wolves.
He seems to be a player that has both strong physical and technical attributes.
It was tough for him yesterday coming on with Wolves struggling to have any kind of rhythm.
But he will eventually prove to be a really good addition to the squad.
By many accounts his shooting ability is particularly impressive and hopefully he’ll score a decent amount of goals for a Wolves side desperate to become a bit more potent.
