Wolves have several very important players, but new data has now revealed the most valuable asset on the books at Molineux.
Wolves’ squad is now looking very different after the 2025 summer transfer window.
Many players left the club over the last couple of months, with Matheus Cunha first out of the door.
Cunha joined Manchester United for £62.5 million, and this sale was quickly followed up by Rayan Ait-Nouri joining Manchester City for £36 million.
Those two exits in particular are going to be felt by Wolves, because they were game-changing players. They were also very valuable assets.
And now new data has shared who Wolves’ most valuable player is after all the summer activity.
Joao Gomes is currently Wolves’ most valuable player

CIES Football Observatory shared data last week of the estimated values for players across 67 leagues worldwide.
At the very top sits Lamine Yamal, which comes as no surprise.
The Spanish sensation is arguably the best player in the world right now, and is still only 18 with a huge contract. His current value is estimated to be between €366-426 million.
Moving further down the list, we reach the highest valued Wolves player.
And that player is Joao Gomes, who has a current estimated value of €39-45 million. He is ranked as the 50th most valuable player on the list of everyone in the database.

Joao Gomes may be the new ‘face’ of Wolves
Gomes is extremely valuable to Wolves.
He has got better and better since he arrived at the club in January 2025, and is now one of the best central midfielders in the Premier League.
Of course, it has been a tough start to the new season for Wolves and Gomes has not hit the heights we know he can yet.
Indeed, a surprising statistic about Gomes showed he’s been dribbled past more than anyone so far in Europe.
But this is a player who is largely very consistent, and is adored at Molineux for the way he plays the game.
You can always tell he genuinely cares about representing the football club every time he steps out onto the field. His passion has always made it extremely easy to root for him.
Arguably, Gomes is the new ‘face’ of Wolves now that Cunha has left. He is potentially the most well-known player to neutrals and there is also a case to be made for him being Wolves’ best player, although some may say Andre.
Undoubtedly he is a highly valuable asset, and Wolves will hope to keep him for many years to come.
However, fans are realistic. Given how the club operate, and the potential for real struggle this season, it would be no surprise if Gomes sadly became the latest big-money sale next summer.
