Nelson Semedo shares his first impressions of Wolves’ three new signings

Nelson Semedo has given his first interview since returning to the Wolves squad for pre-season – and offered some initial thoughts on the three new signings.

Semedo was one of four Wolves players to return to the squad on Sunday.

He was back with the squad in Miami along with Jose Sa, Pedro Neto and Joao Gomes, after featuring at Euro 2024 with Portugal. Gary O’Neil had given them some extra time off in order to recharge their batteries.

Since being away from Wolves, the club have made three new signings.

Tommy Doyle did see his loan move turned permanent. But Wanderers then moved to sign Rodrigo Gomes, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Pedro Lima.

All three have been praised at various points over the last few weeks, and now Semedo has spoken about the trio.

Wolves started the summer very positively indeed.

It is not often that the club get business done early. But O’Neil, sporting director Matt Hobbs and the recruitment officials had clearly laid some groundwork heading into the summer.

Rodrigo was the talk of the town at the weekend after he scored two goals against West Ham United.

Lima may have only just turned 18, but the Brazilian looks like a cracking prospect, with O’Neil saying that he has ‘unbelievable ability’.

And Strand Larsen has also been praised by the manager, who is hoping the big man can soon score his first goal in a Wolves shirt.

Fans have been delighted to see them all settle in so well. And Semedo has already been struck by their quality, as he told the club’s official website: “I trained with Rodrigo in the national team, when we came back from the little break before the Euros camp. It was good to see him again.

“Pedro, I had a good catch-up with him and he seems a good guy and also I spoke with Jorgen, and they look really well, and from what I saw, they’re doing really well and are ready to help the team.”

Wolves newbies all look really promising

Up to now, all the indications have been that Wolves’ three new faces have settled in really well. And that was always likely to be the case given the culture O’Neil and Hobbs have created.

That dressing room is probably in the healthiest state it has been in for quite some time. So it makes for a much easier settling in period for new players coming in.

One gets the feeling that Semedo will be an important figure for Lima in particular. The youngster is a right-back, and he stands to be the long-term replacement for Semedo at Molineux.

Semedo will probably take him under his wing, which would be brilliant because he has really developed into a top full-back.

He’ll have plenty of pearls of wisdom to offer Lima, who might just end up offering strong competition for Semedo in the 2024/25 season.
