Wolves slipped to a fourth straight defeat in the Premier League – and Matheus Cunha drew another blank.
Wanderers have started to struggle again after an initial bounce under Vitor Pereira, and there is a growing feeling that Wolves could be heading for the Championship.
Leicester City beating Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday means that Wolves have no slipped into the relegation zone again, and that is bound to have a psychological impact on the players.
On Saturday, Matheus Cunha started for Wolves and put in a better performance compared to the one against Chelsea.
Fans felt Cunha was disinterested against Chelsea, after reports emerged that he and his agent had been stalling over signing a new contract at Wolves.
Although he was better against the Gunners, Cunha couldn’t find the net – but his teammate Nelson Semedo isn’t worried.
Nelson Semedo backs Matheus Cunha amid mini goal drought

Cunha’s failure to score for Wolves on Saturday means that he has now gone one month without finding the net for Wolves.
His last goal for the club came against Manchester United on Boxing Day.
There has been a lot of talk about Cunha and his immediate future at Wolves, and some have suggested his head may have been turned.
Vitor Pereira called out Cunha’s body language after the defeat to Chelsea, but some feel the Wolves manager was correct in what he said.
Cunha had a couple of chances in the second-half against Arsenal but couldn’t convert – but Semedo backed his teammate after the game.
He said (via E&S): “We have to be smarter on those points. Matheus will score again, he’s been scoring a lot. We have to move on. I think we did a good game against a very good team.
“We had the ball, we created chances, but we have to move on.
“We have a full week to work and plan for the Aston Villa game.”
A nervy week awaits for Wolves over Cunha
Who knows if all the talk has been affecting Cunha on the pitch, but the fact he’s now gone a month without scoring is far from ideal.
Wolves are really struggling, and need their talisman to come good.

Lee Naylor strongly criticised Cunha after his performance against Arsenal, questioning his work rate against the Gunners.
Wolves just need to get past the transfer window having kept the player. All the noise can’t be helping him either, and Pereira needs his number 10 to be fully focused on the job at hand.
