Wolves have released new training photos ahead of the game with Aston Villa on Saturday – and there is no sign of Nelson Semedo.
The defender, 29, went off injured just before half-time in the 6-0 thrashing by Brighton.
Julen Lopetegui confirmed after the game that he had some pain. But there have been no further updates on him since.
Sometimes, training photos the club release can be an indicator as to how players are getting on with knocks they may have picked up.
This afternoon Wolves uploaded some pictures from Compton Park, and there is no sign of Semedo anywhere.
But one positive for Wolves fans is that Chiquinho is now back in full training.
The winger can be seen with the rest of his teammates, just as Julen Lopetegui had confirmed recently.
He’s yet to play any minutes this season after sustaining a serious knee injury last summer.
Wolves fans really hope they’ll be able to get a glimpse of him before the campaign ends.
Semedo missing out against Villa would likely see Lopetegui turn to Jonny Castro Otto to provide cover on the right.
The Spaniard has not played since the 4-2 defeat to Leeds United back in March.
It is not out of the question that Craig Dawson could shift over to right-back, having played the position previously in his career.
There’s also the option of Lopetegui going to a back three and sticking someone like Adama Traore in there as a right wing-back. Although that would be risky.
Nelson Semedo training absence could see Jonny get big chance this weekend for Wolves
If Semedo can’t play against Villa, then you would imagine Jonny will get the nod as his replacement.
And that would be big for Jonny, who has not enjoyed a very good season.
It’s been tough for him, as he has been unable to build up momentum.
As such, he’s produced some alarming performances and just hasn’t appeared as mobile or athletic.
He could be someone the club look to move on this summer, unless he really proves his worth in these final games for Wolves.
