Wolves sacked Gary O’Neil last weekend following a 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town – and there were ugly scenes after that result.
Wanderers lost at Molineux to the Tractor Boys, with Gary O’Neil paying the price with his job.
Wolves finally sacked O’Neil after weeks of calls from supporters, and Vitor Pereira is the man to come in as his replacement.
Pereira is inheriting a real mess, frankly.
Wolves have had an awful season so far, and have been unable to defend to anywhere near the level required.
We’ve also seen, rather alarmingly, players losing their cool in recent weeks. But for Nedum Onuoha, this wasn’t on O’Neil.
Nedum Onuoha suggests disciplinary issues at Wolves aren’t Gary O’Neil’s fault

It has been a made past few weeks watching Wolves – and some of the scenes we’ve seen have been really alarming and embarrassing.
Firstly, we had Jose Sa jumping into the South Bank to confront a support at half-time against Bournemouth.
We then had Mario Lemina scrapping with Jarrod Bowen after the defeat against West Ham United.
Then last week, Rayan Ait-Nouri kicked off after the full-time whistle and got himself a second yellow card, while Matheus Cunha tangled with an Ipswich staff member. Cunha will surely be banned, after getting charged by the FA.
But for Nedum Onuoha, O’Neil wasn’t to blame for the behaviour.
He said: “In my opinion, I do not think some of the loss of discipline from Wolves players was on Gary O’Neil.
“It shows a great sense of frustration with the position they are in. It is their belief that they should be doing better and some of the results that are going against them are in games they would be going into having earmarked three points from them.
“I would not say O’Neil had to stop the players from doing it but they are probably in the worst position they have been in their careers which is why they are acting how they are.
“The new manager coming in is losing out on players through suspension who could make a big difference. It shows emotionally where that team was at.
“I would say those reactions show a team that has not given up – but is at rock bottom.”
O’Neil has to take a bit of blame
One can only imagine the pressure these players are under right now, but that doesn’t excuse some of the unprofessional behaviour we have been seeing in recent weeks.
Losing games is obviously not a nice feeling, but people cannot be reacting in the ways we’ve been seeing – because you then situations where you lose players through suspension.

Matheus Cunha has been charged by the FA and is facing a ban now, and Ait-Nouri is already missing against Leicester and will then return on four yellow cards.
There’s an argument to say that O’Neil wasn’t ruthless enough with the group.
Had he been so, we may not have seen the scenes we have.
