Nasser Djiga sends his first message to Wolves fans after making debut vs Bournemouth

Wolves fans got their first sighting of Nasser Djiga against Bournemouth, after the player joined the club on transfer deadline day.

Vitor Pereira’s side ran out 1-0 winners against the Cherries in what was a huge result for Wanderers.

Matheus Cunha got the game’s only goal, with Wolves taking advantage of the red card for Illia Zabarnyi.

The Premier League explained that VAR felt it was serious foul play from Zabarnyi when he challenged Rayan Ait-Nouri.

Cunha felt Zabarnyi was unfortunate, but Wolves were perhaps still due a favourable decision given how many have gone against the club in recent times.

It was a tough test for Wolves with Bournemouth clearly a very good outfit under Andoni Iraola.

So it was a great result, and really good to see Nasser Djiga for the first time as well – and the player yesterday checked in with fans on social media.

Some wondered if Djiga would start the game against Bournemouth given the injury to Emmanuel Agbadou.

Agbadou had limped off in the defeat to Liverpool, which was a very worrying sight.

Agbadou will be out for three to four weeks which is a real blow – but Wolves showed against Bournemouth that they might just be OK.

Santiago Bueno, Matt Doherty and Toti Gomes did well, and Wolves fans then got to see Nasser Djiga in action.

After some initial confusion during the substitution with Djiga seemingly not ready, he entered the action to replace Bueno with around 20 minutes to go.

Wolves fans had a mixed reaction to Djiga’s debut, but it cannot have been an easy game to enter.

Yesterday, the Burkina Faso international sent a message to fans for the first time after his debut, saying: “Important victory yesterday 💪🏽 Very happy to have made my @premierleague debut with @wolves.”

What Rayan Ait-Nouri said about Djiga

So Djiga got his first minutes under his belt for Wolves against Bournemouth which was another positive of the day.

Hopefully, he will be able to build them up until he’s eventually starting games before long.

That said, the three that started on Saturday will be tricky to dislodge.

But Djiga has seemingly impressed behind the scenes and may be coming for one of their spots.

Rayan Ait-Nouri praised Djiga last week, saying he’s noticed that Djiga was ‘very strong’ and had ‘very good quality with the ball’.

Hopefully, we will soon see these traits in game scenarios.
