Wolves were dealt a significant setback on Wednesday as journalists Nathan Judah and Liam Keen revealed how long Emmanuel Agbadou could be sidelined.
Agbadou suffered a muscular injury in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat against Liverpool, forcing him off the field on the hour mark and seeing him replaced by Santiago Bueno.
It is now suspected that Agbadou could be sidelined for three to four weeks, potentially seeing him miss five matches in all competitions, including crucial showdowns against Everton and Southampton.

In a similar vein to theoretically losing Matheus Cunha or Joao Gomes, the Ivorian defender will be a huge loss to Vitor Pereira, having settled in superbly since arriving from Reims.
Agbadou has been a revelation in the past month or so and his excellent start to life at Wolves hands another player big shoes to fill.

Nasser Djiga should replace Emmanuel Agbadou vs Bournemouth
Two prime candidates are lining up to replace Agbadou this weekend, one of those is the Uruguayan Bueno, and the other is new signing Nasser Djiga.
Wolves signed Djiga for £10m from Red Star Belgrade on deadline day but the 22-year-old is yet to feature for his new club.
Liam Keen felt Djiga could struggle to start amid the form of Matt Doherty on the right side of defence however, the injury to his teammate has presented an opportunity.
Last week, Djiga explained why he suits the Premier League, listing his aggression, strength in duels and ability in possession as key attributes.
“I think my style fits well in the Premier League because I am a very aggressive player. I like to be strong in duels and comfortable on the ball,” he said.
“To succeed in the Premier League, you need these qualities. I have them, but I also want to keep working hard to improve even more.”
Although Bueno replaced Agbadou on Sunday and is perhaps preferred over the Burkina Faso star, the statistics suggest Pereira should hand the latter his debut against Bournemouth on Saturday.
How Djiga compares to Santiago Bueno
Djiga has cited his aggressive defending and strength in duels as reasons why he’s suited to England’s top flight.
On the other hand, Bueno has been criticised for his weakness in defence, with Gary O’Neil once highlighting his struggles to deal with physical strikers.
In the heat of a relegation battle, Pereira must replace the power of Agbadou with Djiga instead of utilising a player who can cost his side.
Statistically, Wolves’ new signing also trumps Bueno in most departments, including his passing, ability to win duels and threat in the opposition box.
Statistics per 90 past year | Santiago Bueno (Wolves) | Nasser Djiga (Red Star Belgrade) |
Interceptions | 0.77 | 1.38 |
Tackles | 1.68 | 1.25 |
Progressive carries | 0.18 | 1.63 |
Progressive passes | 1.54 | 4.13 |
Pass completion | 88% | 89.4% |
Non-penalty goals | 0 | 0.13 |
While it’s likely Bueno will come in for Agbadou, Djiga’s performances at Red Star Belgrade and what he brings physically should point towards him.
