Wolves and Morgan Gibbs-White are up and running for the season.

The team last night turned over Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup second round with a superb performance.

Following the disappointment of losing to Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur, it was important for Wolves to respond.

And they did emphatically, beating Forest 4-0 at the City Ground.

Chris Hughton did put out a young side, but it was still a very professional job from Wolves.

It is the first time Wolves have scored four times in a domestic game since January 2019.

Given how Wolves have looked so far under Lage, there is a reasonable chance the team will be able to replicate this kind of scoreline again.

One man who gave a very good account of himself last night was Gibbs-White.

It was he that put the icing on the cake with his terrific late strike, but his general performance was very good.

 

Gibbs-White had a strong pre-season, and it seems he will definitely have a role to play this season under Lage.

Barring the very end of the season, he did not really get many chances under Nuno Espirito Santo last term.

He will likely feel he has a point to prove, and he has certainly started well.

Following his goal last night, Gibbs-White took to Instagram to send a message to supporters, which read simply: “Can’t stop won’t stop.”

Swathes of fans responded to the popular 21-year-old, and some fellow players also commented their support.

The likes of Francisco Trincao and Jose Sa replied with some emojis, while Max Kilman branded his teammate a ‘top player’.
