More good news for Wolves as Matheus Cunha agrees to sign new contract with fresh details emerging

Wolves have finally agreed on a new contract for star forward Matheus Cunha as exciting news broke on Saturday night.

Wolves secured a mammoth 2-0 victory against Aston Villa thanks to goals from Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Matheus Cunha.

The win moved Vitor Pereira’s men out of the relegation zone, handing them a boost to their chances of Premier League survival this term.

It wasn’t just the performance of the Old Gold that would have excited supporters, as news emerged that Wolves have agreed to sign Kevin Danso on loan with the 26-year-old set for his medical on Sunday.

Speculation linking Danso with a move to Molineux has been a long-running saga but finally, the Wolves hierarchy have found a breakthrough, and a similar narrative can be attributed to Cunha’s contract saga.

Matheus Cunha set to sign 4.5-year contract at Wolves

Wolves fans have been waiting anxiously throughout this window for their Brazilian forward to sign on the dotted line.

The 25-year-old has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs after scoring 11 top-flight goals this term.

It was even said that Arsenal were huge admirers of Cunha, seeing him as the world-class forward to rival the likes of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.

In an attempt to quash transfer interest, Wolves offered Cunha a new contract but it’s taken a while to materialise, despite reports indicating Cunha had verbally agreed on a new deal.

Luckily, after helping his side to a colossal victory against Villa on Saturday evening, it emerged that Pereira’s star forward has signed a new 4.5-year contract at Wolves.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that there will be a release clause inserted into the deal and that the forward has reached an agreement.

This fantastic news comes after Cunha kissed the Wolves badge at full-time in front of the Molineux crowd, indicating he’s going nowhere.

Huge news for Wolves, but Cunha will surely depart in the summer

Unquestionably, agreeing on a new contract with one of the Premier League’s best forwards is massive news. Cunha is pivotal to Pereira’s men avoiding the drop, as demonstrated in the win over Villa.

However, whilst he’s committed his future to the club for another 4.5 years, a contract means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

With as many as six Premier League clubs interested in Cunha, Wolves may have avoided selling him in January, but they’d be incredibly lucky to keep hold of him in the summer.

The Brazilian is destined to play Champions League football, reaching the pinnacle of world football and showing his truly sensational talents on the big stage.

That isn’t possible with Wolves and he’d only see his career stagnate at Molineux, giving him no choice but to move on eventually.
