Wolves are set to face Manchester United on Monday night, and while three points will be what is needed, there is an unwanted club record that they can break.
The return of Matheus Cunha to Molineux will no doubt take the spotlight as the Brazilian gears up for his first game back in Wolverhampton since his move to Manchester United.
The former Wanderer has been out injured recently, but Cunha has been ruled fit and played on Thursday against West Ham.
There will be some solace for Wolves fans, who know the quality that Cunha offers, as the Red Devils forward seems to be in a slump of form, with fans criticising him against the Hammers.
The Old Gold did do the double over Ruben Amorim’s side last season, despite being a relegation side, but the Manchester club were also not in the best of form.
Now, on Monday night, the chance to win three on the bounce against the 13-time Premier League champions has arrived, but so has the opportunity to prevent an embarrassing record.
Wolves did the double over Manchester United last season! Hwang, Cunha, and Sarabia scored across the games, but only one is still at Wolves.
Wolves can match record for successive league losses if defeated by Manchester United
Wolves are no doubt underdogs heading into the game against Manchester United, and Paul Merson has predicted the Old Gold to be battered.
Rob Edwards will be hoping to use the occasion to his advantage, as the return of Cunha is sure to spark up a reaction from supporters.
But what that will entail remains to be seen on Monday.
What kind of reception should Matheus Cunha get on Monday night?🤔
Preparations for the game will be set on coming up with ways to best Ruben Amorim’s side, and if they fail to do so, a new club record will be set.
With defeat against Manchester United, Wolves can match their worst-ever run of eight successive league losses.
This was set back in the 1981/1982 season.
And with that loss, the Old Gold would also be in contention to smash another Premier League record.

Wolves can also set Christmas record
If Wolves fail to accumulate any more points before Christmas, they will equal Sheffield United as the side that achieved the fewest before the festive day.
In 2020/2021, Sheffield United picked up just two points before the 25th of December, but the Blades did also play fewer games.
With COVID postponing the season’s start date that season, Sheffield United had only played 14 games by Christmas.
In traditional start times, the fewest achieved is Sunderland with five points in the 2005/2006 season after 17 matches.
Let’s hope Wolves do not give fans an unwanted present this season, and if so, hopefully they have kept the receipt.
