Wolves have a number of players out on loan at the moment, and Molineux official Matt Jackson is hoping that one will be able to enjoy a similar rise to Yerson Mosquera.
Mosquera had a loan spell with FC Cincinnati at the start of 2023, with the objective for him being to get regular minutes under his belt after a serious hamstring injury.
He was able to do that, and Wolves then sent him to Villarreal for the second-half of the 2023/24 season.
Mosquera returned to Wolves in the summer of 2024 and then impressed in pre-season, leading to Gary O’Neil making him a starting centre-back for 2024/25.
Sadly, he recently suffered a serious knee injury and will now not play again. That injury for Mosquera really devastated some Wolves fans.
But his loans were very good to him, and Jackson is now hoping that Hugo Bueno can enjoy similar success.
Wolves took the decision to loan Bueno out to Feyenoord towards the end of the transfer window.
It was decided that O’Neil would have enough cover at left-back in Rayan Ait-Nouri and Toti Gomes, with Matt Doherty and Nelson Semedo also no strangers to the position.
Matt Jackson enthused by Hugo Bueno’s loan at Feyenoord so far

Wolves have ensured Bueno will play regularly at Feyenoord, by negotiating potential penalties for the Dutch club if they leave him out of the team for reasons other than injury or suspension.
So far, it has been a good start for Bueno.
He has made four appearances for the club, and made two assists – one on his debut against PEC Zwolle and one on his latest appearance against FC Twente.
Bueno did pick up a hamstring injury which forced him to miss a handful of games. But Matt Jackson is pleased with how the Spaniard has started.
He said (via Wolves official): “Hugo’s doing very, very well. He made an impact immediately, as soon as he went. Unfortunately, he picked up a little bit of a groin injury where he missed four games or so, but he’s now back and into the real meat of the season. They’ve got some brilliant fixtures coming up.
“He’s got Benfica away in the Champions League soon, plus the domestic fixtures, so we’re really excited to see where it goes as long as he plays the minutes now through to the end of the season. It’s absolutely great for him. He went there to play those big games, in big pressure situations.”
Jackson is keen for Bueno to follow Mosquera’s example of developing out on loan and returning to become a starter for the first-team.
He added: “We’re really reflecting on this period for him being the same way as Yerson at Villarreal last year, where he’s now looking to prove he can start for us next summer. We made it pretty clear to him right through the summer.”
Bueno could be Wolves’ starting left-back next season
Jackson and others will no doubt be keeping a close eye on Bueno this season at Feyenoord.
It is a big season for him, after he struggled for minutes under O’Neil last season. But in the Wolves manager’s defence, there was no way he could drop Rayan Ait-Nouri given the form he was in.
Bueno will be playing regular football this season for Feyenoord and his goal should definitely be to make himself a viable option for Wolves ahead of his return.

There is a very good chance that Ait-Nouri could be playing his final season at Molineux, as much as fans don’t want to consider the prospect of him leaving.
But the reality is he has huge potential, and Ait-Nouri is already on the radars of big clubs like Liverpool and Man City. Wolves, as fans well know, are very open to selling top players for the right price.
If Ait-Nouri is going to go, then it would be ideal for Wolves if Bueno was just there and waiting to take his place.
