Mikey Burrows just nailed it, his impassioned speech should be played in Wolves’ dressing room

The Wolves dressing room is no doubt in a bad place right now, and one speech Mikey Burrows has made ought to be played in there.

Wolves crashed to yet another defeat in the Premier League on Monday night.

Manchester United rocked up at Molineux, which was the scene of some protests against owners Fosun, hoping to get three points.

And in the end, it was so easy for them, as Wolves gifted the Red Devils opportunity, after opportunity, after opportunity.

There was brief hope when Wolves ended their goal drought through the superb Jean-Ricner Bellegarde.

But United coasted to victory in the second-half, leaving supporters furious.

After the game, Rob Edwards angered Wolves fans by calling for more support of the players. But many feel they have done what they can, and that it’s on the players to give them something.

And now, Mikey Burrows – host of the Matchday Live Extra show on The Official Wolves Podcast – dropped a verdict that so many Wolves fans will get behind.

Wolves’ performance against United was abysmal.

And it was just the latest of so many we’ve seen in 2025/26.

Edwards has insisted that the players are giving their all. But fans are now starting to doubt that, and Jamie Carragher has even been left shocked by Wolves’ lack of competitiveness.

After Monday night’s game, Mikey Burrows was closing the Matchday Live Extra show, when he delivered a speech that will resonate with many supporters.

He said: “I’ve covered this football club for 17 or 18 years now. And I like to think I know people quite well. And you two (Lee Naylor and Andy Thompson) obviously have a much longer association with it.

“We all care. And I said this after Fulham. That there are people out there who care. There are people here, who care. And I just want everybody who wears that shirt to show that same level of passion. To say even if we’re going to lose, I can take that. If the team have given absolutely everything and fought for every single second.

“At Aston Villa two weeks ago, we watched the rapturous applause at the final whistle from the away fans to Edwards and the team, because they did. They gave us, even though we lost, they restored a little bit of something we’d lost. That is so precious, it’s an internal feeling that you can’t really communicate.

Has Mikey Burrows hit the nail on the head?

Surely those Wolves players need to hear this… 👏

“You (us as fans) need to feel! Deep down within your soul, that this team represents you on the football pitch. And the only people who can make us feel that way are those who cross that white line.

“So lift your head up, stop feeling sorry for yourselves, and go out there and do it! And if you lose, you lose. But you lose together and you lose with our backing. And that’s it.”

Burrows’ speech should be played in Wolves’ dressing room

It is worth actually listening to this speech by Burrows over on Matchday Live Extra, because you then get a sense of his genuine hurt.

He speaks for so many Wolves fans right now with this verdict.

These players have failed the fans far too often this season, and those fans are paying extortionate prices to watch them

Of course, it is Fosun who are ultimately responsible for the decline, and current state of the dressing room.

But the players have not been giving the same level of energy and passion as the fans, who have been exceptional this season considering the circumstances.

Burrows’ rousing speech ought to be played in that dressing room, in the hope that it strikes a chord with them
