Mikel Arteta picks out the ‘dangerous thing’ Wolves have to offer in Arsenal clash

Mikel Arteta refuses to be complacent about Wolves despite the contrasting positions between his Arsenal and the Old Gold.

Heading into Saturday, 31 points separate the two sides; Arsenal have ten wins, and Wolves have zero. It is clear that the Wanderers are the underdogs.

Chris Sutton is in no doubt about the outcome, but the pundit is uncertain about one thing heading into the game.

Rob Edwards is still chasing his first point as head coach, and against Arsenal, it will be one of the tougher fixtures in which to do so’.

Previous history shows Wolves can win these sorts of games, and Mikel Arteta is taking no chances in his preparations.

The build-up to Saturday evening’s game against Arsenal continues, and while Wolves enter the match as underdogs, Mikel Arteta is not letting that affect his team.

The Spaniard provided an update on the Gunners’ injuries to face the Old Gold, but that was not the only question he was asked.

The Arsenal manager was asked about how he can prevent his team from letting their guard down and assuming they will beat Wolves before a whistle is blown.

Responding to the question, Arteta said, “By showing them the team that they are, they understand that a team in that position has to react and show their teeth. That’s a dangerous thing in this league and when a team has the quality they have. So it [being complacent] is not going to happen.”

Finish this sentence: When Wolves play Arsenal, the one thing Rob Edwards must do is ________.

We'll start: Show bravery and try to get at a potentially makeshift Arsenal defence!

Wolves have shown they can punish some of the better sides in the Premier League, but overall, they have not been able to consistently do that for 90 minutes.

They were able to capitalise on Manchester United’s poor defending to score, and it took Aston Villa scoring a long-range effort to beat them.

However, the general consensus among fans is that this Wolves side is simply not good enough, and they will disagree with Arteta on that point.

Mikel Arteta will be alone in his Wolves assessment

At this stage of the season, Wolves fans do not see much quality in their side, so the Arsenal manager will certainly be on his own for his statement of “when a team has the quality they have.”

Quality has been the biggest issue for the Old Gold this season. There have been plenty of performances where they deserved more than either a point or more than a loss, but the lack of clinical edge up top and the mistake-ridden defence have cost them too often.

Before the Manchester United defeat, Opta had Wolves on 15 expected points, showing that they have done enough to win games, but they do not have the players to get it over the line.
