Mick McCarthy reveals how he still feels looking back on his Wolves spell

Mick McCarthy had a successful time at Wolves, getting them promoted and then surviving relegation with them.

The Irishman is well remembered for his time at the Old Gold for both performances and the occasional viral clip of McCarthy.

During his six years in the Black Country, Mick McCarthy had to build Wolves from the ground up. The Wanderers were not in a position to receive heavy financial support and often had to sell their top players.

This did not stop the former manager, and he instead brought good times to Molineux. Now, he has revealed how he feels looking back.

Earlier in the season, Mick McCarthy made his feelings about Wolves known. The former boss still loves the club, despite a rough ending to their time together.

There will be many fans out there whose favourite time supporting Wolves came under the stewardship of McCarthy, and the 66-year-old also has fond memories.

Speaking on his podcast, the Managers, McCarthy made an admission about how he still feels about his time at Molineux.

The former Old Gold manager said, “I’d talk about my Wolves team or the Sunderland team that got promoted or, you know, teams that you’ve had success with; when you start remembering, it puts a smile on your face.”

Of course, his time at the club did end quite badly, with the manager getting sacked after leaving Wolves in the relegation zone.

However, it is still nice to hear him speak of his time so fondly.

Since McCarthy’s time as Wolves manager, expectations at the club have grown. They now expect to remain in England’s top flight.

With their struggles this year, the door has opened for the current head coach to grow in stature too.

Vitor Pereira can become a Wolves cult hero too

Hard times can either unite or break relationships, and if Vitor Pereira can once again guide Wolves to safety, he will no doubt be one of the more famed figures at the club.

He faces a tough task ahead, especially with the newly promoted teams performing much better than the previous two seasons.

Pereira believes the new signings will hit form soon, and that would be a huge boost for the manager.

They need to start bringing in results, or else this will be a season to remember for all the wrong reasons.
