Michael Beale responds to Wolves rumours after QPR beat Cardiff

Michael Beale last night responded to the rumours Wolves are going to make an approach for him.

The 42-year-old is currently subject of interest from Wanderers, who have made him their top target to replace Bruno Lage.

This, after Julen Lopetegui recently turned the job down.

Reports surfaced yesterday that Wolves were planning to make an official approach.

There were even claims that Wolves are hoping Beale will be in their dugout for Sunday’s game with Leicester City.

QPR were actually in action last night against Cardiff City.

And if it was to be Beale’s final game in charge, it was certainly a great way to sign off, with the hosts winning 3-0.

The result sent the Rs top of the Championship.

After a day of speculation, it was always going to be interesting to hear what Beale would have to say post-match.

He was always going to be asked about the Wolves rumours. But Beale wouldn’t really be drawn on them.

Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam quoted him as saying: “It would be hard to walk away from QPR right now and especially this young group.”

Beale admitted that it could now be a big 24 hours for him and the club.

McAdam reports that Beale actually switched off his mobile phone at 3pm yesterday, in order to avoid all the speculation and focus on the job at hand.

Today could be a significant day in Wolves’ search for a new manager

Today could be a hugely significant day for Wolves.

They want someone in for the Leicester game, and it sounds as though Beale is the man they see as Bruno Lage’s successor.

Reports indicated that there was a good chance Wolves would be able to get him.

But his comments after the win over Cardiff may suggest it could go either way.

He clearly really likes his current project. But Wolves is a massive job, and Beale has previously made comments to suggest he’s not shy of making a hard decision.
