Wolves are three for three in 2022, after beating Southampton 3-1 in the Premier League yesterday.
Bruno Lage’s side continued their fine start to the calendar year, and were able to secure all three points against a spirited Saints outfit.
Raul Jimenez gave Wanderers the lead via the penalty spot in the first-half.
Conor Coady then doubled Wolves’ advantage with his first league goal at Molineux.
James Ward-Prowse’s stunning free-kick set up a tense finish, but Adama Traore netted his first goal of the season in injury-time to ensure victory.
Although Wolves were not perfect, it was another really encouraging display.
Defensively, once again, Wolves were simply fantastic.
Young Toti Gomes did really well on his debut, and Wolves were able to restrict Southampton to low-quality chances.
There was nothing anyone could have done about Ward-Prowse’s free-kick.
And it was another fantastic showing from Max Kilman, who continues to go from strength to strength.
And Kilman caught the eye of Micah Richards on Match of the Day last night.
He said: “I just liked the way he approached the game today. He’s a left-footed centre-half who plays on the right of a three. He’s played futsal before and that’s why he might be so comfortable on the ball.
“He looks really good in the Premier League. He looks assured, he’s played every minute this season. Everything about his game is mature.
“He was the one who caught my eye, especially with his body positions. His all-round performance was really good.”
Max Kilman having an outstanding season for Wolves
By this point, Kilman putting in a fantastic performance doesn’t really come as a surprise to most Wolves fans.
The 24-year-old is in the form of his life at the moment.
He has responded emphatically to Bruno Lage’s arrival, and it cannot be long now until he is turning out for England.
Kilman’s outstanding season is undoubtedly one of the biggest positives of the Lage era so far.
