Micah Richards has branded Wolves star Pablo Sarabia’s strike against Tottenham Hotspur his Goal of the Season so far.
Many Wolves fans are still drooling over the Spaniard’s moment of brilliance at the weekend, which helped Wanderers to an amazing 2-1 comeback victory at Molineux.
Wolves trailed for most of the game after conceding early doors to Brennan Johnson.
But Gary O’Neil threw on Pablo Sarabia for the closing stages of the game – and the Spaniard repaid his manager’s faith with a top cameo.
Sarabia produced a stunning piece of technical brilliance to get Wolves back on level terms in injury time, before then threading a perfect through ball for Mario Lemina to score a winner right at the death.
The goal was a thing of beauty, and Richards believes it is the best scored in the Premier League so far…
Micah Richards thinks Wolves star Pablo Sarabia has scored the Goal of the Season so far

Earlier this week, Gary Lineker briefly touched on the game between Wolves and Spurs at Molineux, and admitted that the hosts had ‘outplayed’ his former club. But there was no mention of Sarabia’s moment of genuis.
Bue Lineker, Richards and Alan Shearer – who chose Sarabia in his latest Team of the Week – did talk about the goal on a new episode of The Rest Is Football podcast, with a fan writing in to ask if it’s the best goal scored so far this season in the Premier League.
For Richards, it definitely is that. He said: “I think that was to be honest. Just because the technique needed to score that goal. When the ball comes over and you’ve got to lift the ball up, the natural reaction is to have your first touch so it’s neat and tidy so the ball hits the floor.
“I actually think he meant to keep the ball up on his weaker foot and then finish with his favoured foot. I just think altogether, if you ask 10 people to do that, maybe only a couple could have done that. I would say it’s my goal of the season so far.”
Sarabia strike vs Tottenham is definitely up there
Things like this are obviously subjective but Sarabia’s goal is definitely up there as one of the best scored in the Premier League so far.
As Richards says, it’s the technical quality shown by Sarabia that makes his effort so impressive.
While it was a great ball over the top from Matheus Cunha, it was still a difficult one to control, especially on his weaker foot.
But the touch was absolutely perfect and then the finish to the near post was just glorious and after the game, pundit Joe Cole rightly said that only quality players can produce moments like that.
It’ll no doubt be on the shortlist for Goal of the Month for November, and hopefully it will also at least be considered for Goal of the Season next year.
