Micah Richards explains why his opinion of Wolves changed for the better after Tottenham victory

Wolves’ recent form has changed Micah Richards’ perception of the Old Gold’s season…and future.

Molineux applauded as the full-time whistle confirmed Wolves’ 4-2 win over Tottenham, a match that saw Vitor Pereira make Premier League history

For the first time in the Premier League era, Wolves secured four consecutive wins, with the victory against the Lilywhites lifting the Old Gold above 17th place.

Pereira has restored the good times at Wolves, and now, they must continue, with many already thinking about how next season could look for the Midlands club.

Micah Richards praises Wolves’ development without Matheus Cunha

Jorgen Strand Larsen found himself on the scoresheet alongside Rayan Ait-Nouri and the returning Matheus Cunha

Cunha made his appreciation for Wolves fans known after scoring, following a turbulent week for the Brazilian in the media.

While it was good to see the 25-year-old return after suspension, perhaps the most important part of his cameo was that the game was already won by the time he was introduced.

For some, it’s not a surprise as Wolves’ form without Cunha in recent weeks has been impressive, something that pundit Micah Richards commented on after the victory.

“What’s been good about Wolves now is, when we’ve been on Match of the Day and have been asked, ‘have Wolves got enough to get out of this?’ I always said yes, but my answer was that because of Cunha.

“What they’ve done now is they’ve been without Cunha, yes, he comes on and gets his goal, but Strand Larsen has been excellent, Gomes in midfield, Andre.”

Richards then sang Ait-Nouri’s praises, explaining on The Rest Is Football podcast that his doubt over whether Wolves could operate without Cunha has been ousted.

“I just thought, there’s no way that many good players can go down if they manage to get over that slump. It’s all about morale, they’ve got internationals in that squad,” he concluded.

Cunha has made it clear that he wants to leave Wolves in the summer, with his exit an inevitability, but fortunately, the Old Gold are showing that they may not need to fret.

There is a life after Cunha at Wolves

In an alternate view, Cunha’s four-match suspension was a blessing for Wolves.

The Brazil international’s absence gave Pereira the chance to exercise how his team could look next season, with the results beyond satisfying.

No team has won more points than Wolves since matchday 27, Cunha’s last Premier League start, collecting 13 points without their talisman in the starting XI.

Richards, like most looking at Wolves from the outside, has painted a different picture of the squad in recent weeks, allowing for excitement to set in over what next season could hold.
