Bruno Lage needs the appropriate backing from Fosun if he is to be successful at Molineux.
That is the view of former Wolverhampton Wanderers star Mel Eves.
Lage took his first training session yesterday, after being named as Nuno Espirito Santo’s successor last month.
It seems the excitement for the new season is already building.
Lage achieved good things at Benfica, and the hope for many is that he can get Wolves back on the right track and playing a more attractive brand of football.
In the eyes of Eves, it will be vital that Lage is backed by the owners.
He told the Express & Star: “There’s a good few weeks to go before then, and it’ll be interesting to see what the make-up of his squad is by then. That’s the big thing.
“It’s all good Bruno coming in with big ideas, but a manager can only do so much.
“If he wants to paint a masterpiece, he needs the right tools to do it.
“They’ve got to give him the squad that gives him the chance to get to where they want to be.”
Lage needs big support from the off
Eves makes a good point.
Big things are expected of Lage, but it is so important for the recruitment to be right.
The addition of Francisco Trincao on loan was a very positive start to the window.
Fosun now need to secure the signing of a centre-half with experience, a new central midfielder and a good replacement for Rui Patricio if he goes.
That should give Lage a great chance to make a solid start in the Black Country.
