Max Kilman lavishes praise on Diego Costa after striker scores first Wolves goal

Max Kilman has insisted Diego Costa has been ‘fantastic for the training room’ at Wolves since his arrival, after the striker grabbed his first goal for the club against Brentford.

Costa opened the scoring on Saturday, with Wolves beating the Bees 2-0 at Molineux.

Costa was starting for the second game in a row.

He played really well against his former club Chelsea. And Julen Lopetegui rewarded him with another start, along with Matheus Cunha.

Costa and Cunha were brilliant playing together, and it’s clear there is a real understanding there.

Costa led the line, with Cunha playing just off him and the pair caused big problems for Brentford.

It was definitely Costa’s best performance for Wolves to date, and he came in for praise from Jermaine Jenas on Match of the Day.

And after the game, Kilman explained just how good he’s been for the club since he came in September.

He said (Wolves official): “I’m pleased for him. Since he’s come in he’s been fantastic for the training room, fantastic with the boys and deserved today’s goal.

“You can see how quality of a player he is. When he came in he needed to work on his fitness and he’s got it. Now he’s really fit, he’s firing and it’s great for him.

“He was brilliant today. He worked his socks off off the ball, and had his one moment of magic and scored.

“When I was a kid I used to watch him at Chelsea and he was a fantastic player. Now to be playing with him, he’s still got it. He’s got a bit older but he still works his socks off and he scored the goal today.”

Costa will surely be starting against Leicester City next Saturday.

Diego Costa is coming in clutch for Wolves, his fighting spirit is immense

Costa scoring on Saturday was so satisying.

He has deserved that goal for everything he has done at Wolves since coming in.

He may not have scored a bucket load of goals.

But you need only listen to what his teammates and Lopetegui have said about him since he came to the club.

By their accounts, he has really helped change the culture at the club.

And you can see when he is on the pitch that amazing fighting spirit he has.

He has been exactly what Wolves have needed in recent weeks, and the club snapping him up as a free agent is starting to pay dividends.
