Wolves defender Max Kilman has hailed Joao Moutinho, after the midfielder struck the winning goal against Manchester United on Monday.
The veteran stole the headlines after scoring from the edge of the box to hand Wolves their first win at Old Trafford in over 40 years.
It was a deserved victory for Wolves, who created many chances in the game.
Bruno Lage completely outwitted Ralf Rangnick on the night.
Key to Wolves toppling their opponents was winning the midfield battle. And Ruben Neves and Moutinho did that fairly easily against Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic.
Moutinho has gone slightly under the radar this season, but he is undoubtedly back to his best under Bruno Lage.
It is great to see Moutinho playing so well again after he struggled a bit last term, and Kilman has lauded the 35-year-old.
He said: “He’s a brilliant leader. On the pitch you can see his quality.
“He runs like he’s a 21-year-old so I don’t think his age makes a difference to his performance at all.”
Moutinho certainly doesn’t play like he is 35 years old. Bruno Lage recently said that the player himself had said he only feels as young as 28.
Joao Moutinho setting an example to his Wolves teammates
Seeing Moutinho playing like this again is fantastic to see after his dip last term.
Some feared he might have been heading for an exit in the summer.
But he has come back with a bang this season. He is a crucial player within the starting XI once again.
It is very clear he is hugely respected at the club, and hopefully he is able to continue being influential for a while yet.
