Matt Jarvis points out the biggest difference Wolves fans will notice with Rob Edwards in charge

With Rob Edwards in charge, all Wolves fans will be asking is that he instils some belief within the fanbase and the playing squad, and his former teammate at Molineux, Matt Jarvis, has pointed out one big change he thinks he will have on the club.

It is an incredibly difficult mountain to climb to save the Old Gold this season, but Rob Edwards will have the self-confidence that he can do it.

Even if he cannot complete that goal, the new head coach is thinking about the long term.

Jeff Shi and Rob Edwards hatch a plan

“I spoke about it with Jeff. We have a job on our hands this season, but I do want to be here long-term. To do that I need results. We have to be realistic, but my focus is on doing a good job and making sure we’re a PL club next season, but there is some realism too.”

Edwards has already set out his non-negotiables for Wolves, and the hope is that the players adapt and listen to those requirements as quickly as possible.

And now former Wanderer Matt Jarvis thinks there will be one noticeable change with Wolves this season.

Matt Jarvis and Rob Edwards both represented Wolves, and the two crossed paths when their time overlapped.

Jarvis defended Edwards for taking the Molineux role after criticism was sent his way for leaving Middlesbrough high and dry.

The former winger shared why Edwards was always going to say yes to Wolves.

Matt Jarvis has now shared another insight into the new head coach and what he expects from his team now.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Jarvis said, “What I think his big strength is is galvanising a team mentality and making sure everybody works for each other.

“If you look at his teams, they have done that for each other, especially that Luton team. Got promoted, and even though they did get relegated, you saw the team spirit; they were scoring goals in the last minute and never felt defeated, and I think that Wolves side is what it needs.

“Because when they go a goal down, they look defeated, and it is hard mentally to continue on.”

For fans, the concept of never giving up will be a bare minimum requirement, and if there is one takeaway from Vitor Pereira’s time, it is that Rob Edwards will not find it hard to get that out of his team.

Pereira’s side, for all of their shortcomings, did show that instinctive nature to pull themselves back into matches when they were down.

Are you confident Rob Edwards will help Wolves avoid relegation?

Vitor Pereira was able to get some fight from his players

There were many games this season where Wolves would go a couple of goals down, and they would fight their way back into the game.

Against Burnley, they conceded two goals in the opening half hour but managed to go into halftime at 2-2.

Unfortunately, that would epitomise Wolves this season, as they ended up losing 3-2 due to a last-minute winner by the Clarets.

Additionally, after going 3-0 down to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, the Wanderers never gave up, with the game ending 4-3 to the Blues in the end, but the fight by the home side had to be credited.

‘Holding onto results has been a bigger issue this season, and constantly falling behind in matches is a mental block that Edwards must address.
