Wolves host Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday and for once, there isn’t a lot riding on the game for Vitor Pereira’s men.
After Wolves beat Ipswich 2-1 on Saturday, the Tractor Boys now need to overhaul a 12-point deficit just to move level with seven matches remaining.
The Old Gold have successfully been navigated towards safety by Vitor Pereira, who was dubbed ‘superb’ by Jamie Carragher following the win at Portman Road.
Pereira deserves huge credit for turning their season around, as relegation was a real possibility under Gary O’Neil and now they’re looking to climb the table.

Wolves are three points adrift of 16th-place West Ham and Everton in 15th, while a win over Tottenham can see them close the gap to Spurs to just two points.

Referee for Wolves vs Tottenham confirmed
The last time these two sides met, Jorgen Strand Larsen’s late equaliser saw Wolves draw 2-2 against Tottenham in December.
Since then, the Old Gold have continued to steadily progress under Pereira while Spurs are languishing in the bottom half of the table, signalling a poor campaign for Ange Postecoglou.
Ahead of the clash at Molineux, Anthony Taylor has been named as the referee with Rob Jones as his fourth official and Michael Oliver on VAR.
Taylor has taken charge of 30 Wolves games during his career, with the Wanderers posting just nine victories, six draws and 15 defeats.
He was most recently in charge of a fixture involving Pereira’s men in December as Wolves beat Leicester City 3-0.
However, while there was no controversy in that match, supporters will remember one costly error he made in a fixture last season.
Matt Hobbs was fined after previous Anthony Taylor blunder
In the 2023/24 campaign, Wolves were on the wrong end of VAR errors, including during a 2-2 draw against Newcastle United in October 2023.
O’Neil’s men came from behind twice to salvage a point at Molineux through a late goal from Hwang Hee-chan but they were left bemused that they didn’t grab all three.
Taylor awarded Newcastle a controversial penalty after adjudging Hwang to have kicked Fabian Schar in the box. But replays showed the South Korean stopping his motion at the last moment while the Newcastle defender initiated the contact.
The referee was even instructed to go over to VAR and review the incident but he still awarded the spot kick, which was converted by Callum Wilson.
Stephen Warnock couldn’t believe Taylor’s decision, citing the call as ‘astonishing’, while sporting director Matt Hobbs was fined £4000 by the FA and given a one-match ban for comments he made towards Taylor.
According to one report, Hobbs reportedly called Taylor “Absolutely _______ useless as usual”. A swear word was cited in the report which then concluded the Wolves chief would be charged with misconduct.
In the end, Taylor was demoted to the Championship after the controversial error to take charge of Preston against Coventry City.
