Football Daily released a clip yesterday of the incident in question.
And it was discussed by former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher, Stephen Warnock and Sue Smith.
Warnock and Smith suggested it should have penalty.
Gallagher refused to say whether he thought it should be, and instead offered what the referee could have been thinking in the moment.
Doherty is adamant there was nothing doing.
Reacting to the clip on X, he offered a very blunt one-word reply; ‘Never’.
His former Tottenham Hotspur teammate Eric Dier waded in saying ‘Penalty’, to which Doherty replied ‘Experience’.

Had Doherty used any more force, then he could well have been in trouble.
One thing is for sure – Wolves fans would likely have been screaming for it had it been the other way around.
