Matheus Cunha under strict instruction from Vitor Pereira to improve one thing in Wolves vs Fulham

Vitor Pereira is delighted with how Matheus Cunha is performing but, has set a challenge for the Wolves star in the next game.

There was no time for Wolves to celebrate their 1-0 win over Bournemouth as it was straight back to work for the Old Gold.

On Tuesday night, Pereira’s side will host Fulham in another Premier League challenge, with confidence high in the Wolves squad.

Another win could see the Midlands club move even further away from the bottom three but, Pereira is targeting more than merely three points.

Vitor Pereira calls on Matheus Cunha to improve

Since arriving from Al-Shabab, it’s clear that the Wolves manager will not settle for anything less than perfection from his players.

Such was evident as after his five-star showing, Pereira demanded more from Andre, insisting that the best is yet to come from the midfield maestro.

Andre was at the top of his game at the Vitality, as was Matheus Cunha, who won the game for the Old Gold by netting his 13th Premier League goal.

Even players like Cunha, who has had a direct hand in 47% of Wolves’ league goals this term, are not exempt from critique, as the boss explained.

Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference, Periera revealed that he wants to see an improvement from Wolves’ ‘special’ star player against Fulham.

“Cunha is a special player, who can decide a game on the last pass or shot, he has to improve a bit when we are defending, hope he can do it tomorrow again.”

While the evidence is there for all to see regarding what the Brazilian can do in the final third, Pereira is hoping to see more of a shift put in defensively from the forward.

Gary O’Neil had a similar demand for Cunha

Those within the Wovles squad think Cunha is one of the Premier League’s best but, like every player in world football, there’s always room for improvement.

Gary O’Neil interestingly had a similar view on the Brazilian, as he urged Cunha to be better on the ball when speaking back in November.

“We may lack quality in moments and we did today. But we’ve got Matheus Cunha to unlock that magic. He’s a maverick but needs to do better off the ball,” O’Neil said.

Pereira has made it clear that he will be watching what the 25-year-old produces in all areas of his game against Fulham, in what is another chance for the Wolves star to impress.
