Matheus Cunha talks up £90k-a-week Wolves star’s influence… ‘He’s a big part of the group’

Wolves star Matheus Cunha talked up Pablo Sarabia and his influence at the club, after Wolves’ amazing 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Wanderers put the pain of the defeat to Sheffield United by coming from behind and beating Spurs at Molineux.

Two late goals tipped the game on its head, with Gary O’Neil’s side showing tremendous character in front of the home supporters.

Brennan Johnson’s early goal had given cause for concern. But the introduction of Pablo Sarabia for the final 10 minutes or so was the catalyst for Wolves.

Sarabia scored a truly stunning goal to get Wolves back on terms, just moments after his introduction. He then set up Mario Lemina to score the winner.

After the game, Cunha had some kind words for his Spanish teammate…

Cunha enjoyed a great game himself on Saturday. While his finishing was wayward again, he was a constant threat for Wolves with his ball carrying.

It was he that set Sarabia up for the equaliser with a nice clipped ball over the defence.

It is not lost on Cunha just how important the 31-year-old is to the squad, despite having not featured much so far this season. He said (Express & Star): “I wanted to say ‘I was very happy for you’, because he has supported us a lot. He’s a big part of the group.

“To be on the bench is very hard. A lot of times he didn’t play, but he still worked hard and we are very happy for him.”

Sarabia has made just eight appearances so far this season, for a total of 343 minutes.

O’Neil had said after the game on Saturday that the star ‘forced his hand’ after showing a high level in training. Perhaps he may not have played at all had it not been for that.

Sarabia must now kick on at Wolves

It was an incredible impact from Sarabia on Saturday. His goal was of the highest quality.

For whatever reason, it hasn’t quite worked for the £90,000-a-week star so far at Wolves. By now, many fans thought he would have become a key player in the team.

He’s spoken about adapting before, and Sarabia was keen to make that point again after the win over Tottenham.

Hopefully, this will now be his catalyst to kick on at Molineux. His cameo against Spurs was a reminder of what a talented player he is. Fans would love him to start thriving in this team.
