Matheus Cunha sends message to Pedro Neto after Wolves exit, and he responds with two words

Pedro Neto’s five-year association with Wolves has come to an end as the winger has joined Chelsea.

Wolves deemed it necessary to accept Chelsea’s offer of £54m for Pedro Neto this summer, seeing him leave Molineux ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Gary O’Neil will struggle to replace the winger’s impact on the right flank however, it seemed as though now was the right time to part ways with the 24-year-old.

Before being unveiled as a Chelsea player on Sunday afternoon, Neto bid an emotional farewell to those at Compton.

On completing his move to Chelsea, Neto admitted he was “really grateful” to join the Blues, adding that he’d worked throughout his career to make the move to Stamford Bridge, via Chelsea’s official website

Before announcing himself to the world in his new colours, Neto bid farewell to those at Molineux, seeing many of his teammates send well-wishes to the forward.

Matheus Cunha was one to share his appreciation for the winger, posting an Instagram story that read, “My brother, may the father in heaven bless you always. Much success to you man, I’ll miss my duo.”

The Portugal international quickly responded to Cunha’s goodbye message, reposting the image with the message, “Always together.”

Neto will be sorely missed in the Midlands, where he had many on the edge of their seats at Molineux over this five-year stay at Wolves.

Gary O’Neil is already thinking about life without Neto

While the ideal scenario would have been for O’Neil to have Neto’s ability for the 2024/25 calendar ahead, the manager is already preparing for life without his prized winger.

Wolves have been linked to Carlos Forbs of Ajax as a possible replacement, as the boss confirmed that the club will now eye sufficient reinforcements before deadline day.

Journalist Liam Keen relayed that O’Neil ‘will reinvest’ the profit acquired from Neto’s sale to bring in several new players, including a direct replacement for the 24-year-old in the form of a wide forward.

For fans, it’s a difficult pill to swallow to see Neto join a Premier League club however, there will some relief that the uncertainty over his future is now over.

For now, the Old Gold will be focused on their Premier League opener against Arsenal, with plenty of challenges to overcome as the 2024/25 calendar commences.
