Wolves picked up another big win on Saturday in the Premier League, beating Fulham at Molineux – and Matheus Cunha was particularly impressed with one of his teammates.
Rayan Ait-Nouri inspired Wanderers to a 2-1 win against the Cottagers, after Gary O’Neil lost Pedro Neto and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde to injury.
Wolves showed brilliant character to win after that double blow, with Ait-Nouri really stepping up. he opened the scoring, before Nelson Semedo’s shot deflected off Tom Cairney to make it 2-0.
Alex Iwobi grabbed a consolation right at the end, but it was a deserved three points for the home side, with European football still very much a possibility.
There were many fantastic individual displays yesterday, and Joao Gomes caught Matheus Cunha’s eye…
Matheus Cunha says Joao Gomes was just ‘absurd’ for Wolves against Fulham

It was an extremely hard-fought game yesterday from Wolves.
Several players had to play out of position given all the injuries, but they all put a top shift in and Gary O’Neil admitted after the game that it was his new favourite performance of the season.
It was another brilliant display from Joao Gomes in midfield.
The Brazilian was typically busy in the engine room, making nine defensive actions in total according to Sofascore, which was the most of any player on the field.
He also contested 14 duels which was the most of any player, winning seven of those which was again the most.
And of course, Gomes was instrumental in Wolves getting their second goal, as he laid off Semedo.
Gomes posted on Instagram after the game, and several players responded to the 23-year-old. One of the players to reply was injured star Cunha, who wrote ‘There… today you can’t even joke, you were absurd’.
A star in the making
Like Rayan Ait-Nouri, Gomes is a star in the making at Wolves.
The Brazilian has already become a huge force for Wanderers in that midfield and it says it all that he is able to stand out just as much as Mario Lemina alongside him.
Wolves paid £15 million to sign Gomes from Flamengo in January 2022 and that is already looking like one of the biggest bargains in the club’s recent history. He is easily worth double that amount now, possibly even triple.
Gomes is tailor-made for the Premier League, and it would be no surprise if some clubs came calling for the £30,000-a-week man this summer, as much as Wolves fans will not want to consider it.
Sporting director Matt Hobb suggested earlier this week that some are already looking at him, but hopefully, Wolves will not lose the talented youngster.
