Matheus Cunha reveals gesture from Wolves colleague that made him ‘love’ the club even more

Matheus Cunha has explained what separates Wolves from other clubs he’s represented.

It’s been a while since Wolves fans were able to witness Cunha’s greatness on the pitch as Vitor Pereira’s star player continues to serve his suspension.

While it’s been a tedious time for the forward, the 25-year-old is feeling good on international duty after receiving his first call-up for Brazil since joining Wolves.

Cunha returned to international action against Colombia and is set to feature in Brazil’s showdown against Argentina before returning to the West Midlands.

Matheus Cunha reveals gesture from Wolves colleague

While there are high hopes for Cunha at international level, there’s unfinished business for the Brazilian domestically too.

Wolves are almost safe from relegation, sitting nine points above the bottom three with nine games to go.

Though the end of the season will come as a relief to fans, it’s also a dreaded time that could symbolise the end of Cunha’s time at Wolves.

There’s some belief that transfer interest in Cunha will lead to the forward’s exit in the summer however, the player himself has hinted that the West Midlands club will take some beating.

During the international break, Wolves posted a video documenting a day in the life of Cunha, where the 2023 signing opened up about how much the club means to him.

During the video, the former Atletico Madrid star revealed a gift from one of Wolves’ kit men, his hat-trick ball from the 2023/24 win against Chelsea.

“The kit men gave it to me and this was something that it’s all about,” Cunha said.

“When I talk about the club, I talk with all my heart and I really love to be a part of these kinds of things. The kit men do this kind of thing and it shows me much more love than ‘normal clubs’.”

The Brazil international explained the added motivation behind the scenes love gives him, insisting that he thinks about those moments when wearing the Old Gold.

“The kind of things that when you put on the shirt, you’re still thinking about it. To play for everyone, when you win, it makes them happy, then it means a bit more.”

When will Cunha return from suspension?

The comments will be welcomed by fans, who have felt a little distant from the marksman recently.

After Cunha was sent off against Bournemouth, supporters questioned the forward’s discipline, with his suspension coming at a costly time.

Fortunately, Wolves have picked up four points in their star player’s absence so far; however, it will be a little while until he returns.

Though the 25-year-old was given a three-match ban, Cunha collected a further one-match suspension after being charged by the FA for his behaviour.

Cunha will return from suspension for Wolves’ clash with Tottenham at Molineux but will sit out the next two games against West Ham and Ipswich Town.

The superstar has his teammates to thank for sparing his blushes during his absence, with Wolves on course to survive the drop in May.
