Matheus Cunha has spoken about Wolves while on duty with Brazil.
It has been four months since Matheus Cunha left Wolves to join Manchester United in a transfer worth £62.5 million.
It was a move that had been on the cards for a while, even despite the player signing a new contract at Molineux in January. If anything, that was simply to keep Cunha at the club and happy.
Towards the end of his time at the club, some fans started to feel a bit exhausted by Cunha.
There was constant talk around him and his future, and even when he was out suspended, the focus was on him which took away from the team’s achievements a little bit.
When he left, there was actually some relief for many supporters.
However, there is no denying Cunha was a superb player for Wolves – perhaps one of the very best in the club’s recent history. Arguably, he is already being missed in terms of his ability to change games in an instant.
At one stage, fans absolutely adored Cunha. And the star had some kind words for his former club while on international duty.
Matheus Cunha pays tribute to Wolves after his 2022 World Cup heartbreak

Cunha is looking to make Brazil’s final squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Carlo Ancelotti has hinted that his March squad will likely be his final World Cup squad, so those that get call-ups will likely be heading to North America next year.
Cunha missed out on selection for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which was a devastating blow for him.
He would then complete a move to Wolves in January 2023, and Cunha reflects on his time at Molineux very fondly.
Crediting the club with helping him to get back on track, Cunha said earlier this week in an interview with Globo Esporte: “I was very happy at Wolves. The moment I got there right after I didn’t go to the World Cup, and the club was what I needed to remember how big I got within the possibilities, how affectionate the club was with me.
“Helping in the best way was very important, they also helped me and I was able to give back. Within records and goals, what made me most proud was to return the affection.”
Wolves miss Cunha’s output

As much as some fans would not like to admit it, Wolves are missing Cunha.
So far, it’s just five goals scored in the Premier League – which is the joint-lowest with Nottingham Forest.
And most importantly, it is only two points taken from seven games.

Appearances – 92 |
Goals – 33 |
Assists – 15 |
Wolves have been struggling in the final third, and the lack of players who can provide sparks has been clear to see.
Cunha was someone who could provide moments of magic out of nowhere. He was almost a cheat code at times, and Wolves are worse off for no longer having this kind of player in their team.
