Wolves fans don’t have much longer to wait for Rob Edwards’ first game in charge – and Mateus Mane has shared what training has been like so far under the new manager.
The Molineux faithful are hoping that the change of manager will now help the club to turn a corner, after a disastrous start to 2025/26.
Wolves have taken just two points from their first 11 Premier League games, with Vitor Pereira in charge for 10 of those. He was sacked after the 3-0 defeat against Fulham.
Wolves have now brought in Edwards, a man who knows the club well.
When Wolves came calling, the decision was clear for Rob Edwards
It is hoped that his affinity with the club will make this appointment a successful one – apparently, there is already confidence that Edwards can unite Wolves.
But there is no denying how hard a job this will be.
However, it seems Edwards is already making an impression given what Mateus Mane has said.

Mateus Mane enthused after first Wolves training sessions with Rob Edwards
The hard work starts now for Edwards, who must quickly galvanise the players.
Confidence is low at the moment and that will need to be addressed immediately.
Of course, getting positive results will be key to that. But in order to get them, Edwards first needs to get everyone buying into him.
Edwards has now had some time with some of the players at Wolves, one of those being Mateus Mane.

Mane has liked what he’s seen so far in training – and he has now shared that it’s clear Edwards is a particular fan of hard workers.
He told Wolves’ official website: “It’s been going good. He really wants us to push. He likes hard workers, he wants us to run, have more intensity on and off the ball.
“He’s been really pushing the team to try to get the best out of us, so it’s been good having him here.”
The Wolves players Edwards will surely like
These are vital days for Edwards as he prepares the players for the game with Crystal Palace.
Of course, he doesn’t have everyone at the moment due to the international break, but those who are there will be looking to impress the new manager.
Edwards is big on hardworking players, and that will surely mean some members of that squad will be seeing a lot of involvement moving forwards.
We know that Marshall Munetsi was loved by Pereira, and feels like the kind of player Edwards will also like.
Rob Edwards’ first interview as Wolves boss
Munetsi’s defensive qualities have never been in doubt. He has a terrific engine and will run all day.
But Munetsi’s passing isn’t as good as it could be, with his progressive passing in need of particular improvement.
That said, the Zimbabwe international might just be someone Edwards wants to lean on for his unquestionable work-rate.
