Mateus Mane looks set to become one of Wolves’ most important players over the next few months, and that is huge praise for an 18-year-old.
The young attacker was handed his first Premier League start against Liverpool, and it was certainly eye-catching.
Liverpool fans were left in awe, as the Wolves youth prospect showed immense bravery and courage when on the ball.
Rob Edwards followed that up by calling his display ‘excellent’, and that is a sure sign that he must start going forward.
However, he is still young, and there are plenty of areas Mane must improve in, according to Lee Naylor, but early signs are promising.
After his full debut, the player has spoken out for the first time and has admitted the supporters have done one thing that has really helped him on the pitch.

Mateus Mane loves hearing Wolves fans chanting his name

Calls for Mateus Mane to start began near enough to the start of the season, and fans have finally got their wish.
The Old Gold faithful are huge supporters of the young talent, and that is evident through their actions in the stands.
Fans have already started to chant the name of Mateus Mane during matches, and it is something that has seemingly really helped the player.
Speaking to the Express and Star, Mane said, “It’s been good, I like hearing my name getting sung, it gives me more confidence to keep going every day and try and get a win for the fans.”
Use just one word to describe Mateus Mane’s display vs Liverpool 👏🏻
After a strong showing against Liverpool, the 18-year-old is surely now at the top of the pecking order.
His willingness to carry the ball up the pitch and be positive in the final third is a trait that has been missing from this Wolves side.
And the confidence that he speaks of can only be a good thing going forward and is an example for other Wolves youth players who can follow in his footsteps.
Mateus Mane does deserve his chance at Wolves

Mateus Mane has also spoken about how he feels that he deserved his chance in the first team, and the youngster is completely right.
The academy prospect has shown huge self-belief in himself, and that has translated onto the pitch.
Mane told Express and Star, “I feel like I deserved it; I’ve worked hard in training, and when I came on to play in every game. I feel like I deserved it. I just believe in myself, I’ve confidence in myself that I deserve to be here. This is where I want to be, I’m here and I want to take people’s places.”
While relegation looks like the most plausible outcome for Wolves, if they are to get any joy in the final third, it seems like Mateus Mane will play a part.
He has already shown he is capable of delivering by picking up an assist against the Premier League leaders Arsenal just a few weeks back.
