It’s been a whirlwind past few months for Mateus Mane at Wolves – and now the youngster has been recognised as one of football’s best young talents.
Wolves have invested considerable time into developing Mateus Mane, and that work is beginning to show in how he is viewed outside the club.
He is no longer just a prospect within the system, but an established first-team player who is impressing and attracting attention across Europe.
Mane has wowed Wolves fans with his refreshing style of play and confidence, which has seemingly rubbed off on his teammates in the second half of the season.
After a number of great performances, neutral fans started to take note of Mane, and now, he’s been included in the prestigious NXGN 2026 list.
NXGN recognition places Mane among football’s elite young talents

Mane has now been named one of the best teenage players in world football by NXGN, placing 30th in their latest list of 50 players. That recognition reflects a global assessment of which young players are progressing fastest in the game.
Mane’s inclusion reframes his position within the club. He is no longer just an academy product developing behind the scenes, but a player whose trajectory is now being measured against elite peers across Europe.
NXG’s description of Mane reads: “Despite their recent upturn in fortunes, it’s still extremely likely that Wolves will be heading for the Championship at the end of this season.
“One member of their squad who deserves to remain a Premier League player and thus could be forced to move on from Molineux, however, is teenage forward Mateus Mane.
The 18-year-old has impressed onlookers with his bravery and direct style ever since breaking into Rob Edwards’ preferred line up around the turn of the year, leading to reported interest from Manchester United and Liverpool, among others.
“Internationally, meanwhile, it seems that Portugal are set to edge out England after Mane was called-up to their U21 squad this month.”
Lamine Yamal, Willian Estevao, Pau Curbasi, Franco Mastantuono and Lennart Karl make up the top five.
Wolves risk losing top prospect Mane this summer
The youngster’s form has not gone unnoticed elsewhere, and Wolves are already dealing with the consequences of Mane’s rise.
Interest from larger clubs has moved beyond passive monitoring and into active engagement.
It was claimed recently that Manchester United had held talks over signing Mane.
Newcastle United have also been linked with Mane, as have several other clubs.

Wolves are highly likely to be relegated, but will fight tooth and nail to keep Mane at Molineux, as they seek to get promoted back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
But the club can at least expect to make a huge amount of money on Mane if there is no chance of him wanting to stick around.
His appearance on the NXGN list will, in theory, only increase his value.
