The breakthrough of Mateus Mane has given Wolves fans a reason to smile, amid a terrible season for the club.
The Old Gold have had a torrid campaign so far, with a poor summer leading to a haul of just two points from the first 18 Premier League games.
Wolves recently changed manager with Rob Edwards replacing Vitor Pereira.
Use just one word to describe Mateus Mane’s display vs Liverpool 👏🏻
But the change has not had the desired effect, and there has even been some talk about Edwards’ future already.
He has lost all seven games so far, and he could really do with getting some results soon.
And Mateus Mane could become key in helping Edwards to achieve that.
Against Liverpool, the teenager was given his first Premier League start – and Mane put in a refreshing performance.
It’s clear he’s a confident lad, and there’s one thing that seems to have been putting wind in his sails.
Mateus Mane loving chants from Wolves fans

Mane’s increased involvement for the first-team has been a positive thing.
Wolves have struggled all season in and around the final third, but Mane has shown that he can make things happen.
Against Arsenal, he put in a fine ball for Tolu Arokodare to score.
He then followed that up with a lively cameo against Brentford, and then showed impressive confidence against Liverpool.
Mane’s style of play has been lapped up by the fans – and the support from them hasn’t been lost on the youngster.
The youngster also made a very refreshing admission about his style after the defeat to Liverpool, insisting he is not ‘scared’ despite only just arriving on the scene as a young player.
He said (via Wolves official): “I believe in myself, I have confidence in myself, that I deserve to be here and it’s where I want to be.
“I’m young now, but I’ve always played with older people, and being one versus one, that’s what I love, to get at players. Whoever is in front of me, I’m not scared, I’ll just drive.
“I feel like every time I want that first good touch, first good pass, and I’ll settle down, and I did that well. The shot I thought was going to go in, but obviously it was a good save.”
Mane also stated he loves hearing Wolves fans sing his name, which gives him further confidence.
Mane must start vs Man United
There is no real debate about Mane heading into tonight’s game with Manchester United.
Simply put, he must start as it’s no less than he deserves. In recent weeks, he has genuinely marked himself out to be Wolves’ biggest threat in and around the final third.
How far do you think Mateus Mane can go in the world of football?
Lee Naylor has put high huge pressure on him 👀
It shouldn’t be like this, as Wolves’ senior options need to be offering far more.
But good on Mane for taking his opportunities with both hands. His confidence is extremely refreshing, and clearly the support from the fans is having a very positive effect on him.
