Match of the Day pundits Dion Dublin and Stephen Warnock both agreed that Wolves star Raul Jimenez should not have received a second yellow card against Leeds United.
The Mexico international was sent off following a nasty collision with Illan Meslier.
The ball was there to be won, and both players went for it.
Meslier managed to get there just ahead of Jimenez, and the momentum resulted in both players getting hurt.
After several minutes of treatment for both, Jimenez received his marching orders.
The incident changed the game, with Leeds then coming from 2-0 down to win 3-2.
On Match of the Day last night, Dublin and Warnock were providing analysis and both agreed Jimenez was unlucky.
Dublin said: “For me, that’s a throw in, nothing else. It’s not a yellow card, it’s nothing at all, just two big lads coming together trying to win the ball.
“Football is a physical game. That, for me, is a throw in. Make sure both players are OK, throw in, play on. I think it’s a terrible decision.”
Warnock added: “I just don’t think it’s a foul. I think it’s just one of those things.”
Wolves losing meant they missed out on the chance to move up into sixth above Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.
Wolves stung by awful Raul Jimenez decision in Wolves vs Leeds
The incident looked bad a real time.
But it’s as Dublin says, it was just two players innocently going for the ball.
One happened to get there first, and the momentum of both resulted in the nasty collision we saw.
There was no malice from either. It was just one of those things and the decision ultimately proved costly for Wolves as momentum swung and Leeds came back to win.
That said, there was some absolutely awful defending to allow the Whites to come back. And so Bruno Lage will not be happy about that as well as the actual decision.
