Martin Keown names the Wolves ace who always impresses him, he didn’t even play vs Arsenal

Wolves crashed to a heartbreaking defeat against Arsenal on Saturday night, and before the game one player came in for praise from Martin Keown.

Rob Edwards suffered another loss as Wolves manager, with Yerson Mosquera’s late own goal making this one of the hardest defeats to stomach yet.

Wolves gave a decent performance down in north London.

They were a lot more organised than in recent matches, and a draw would have meant a deserved point.

Wolves fans, was the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal the hardest loss to stomach so far this season? 🤔

The final statistics don't really tell the full story!

It wasn’t meant to be. But fans were buoyed by the spirit shown by the players, and believe that similar kinds of displays will surely yield points going forwards.

It was certainly positive to see Wolves playing as well as they did even without Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, who’s a player Martin Keown really rates.

Wolves’ defeat to Manchester United on Monday was one of the worst of the season.

And it was made even worse by the fact that Jean-Ricner Bellegarde was forced off with injury just before the hour mark.

Ahead of the game with Arsenal, Edwards confirmed that Bellegarde is facing a six-week lay off for Wolves, which is a hammer blow.

Because we’ve seen this season how he is one of the few players willing to take risks.

He may not have had any involvement against Arsenal on Saturday night, but Martin Keown still gave him a positive word ahead of kick-off.

He said: “He’s always impressed me. He’s shown no fear, he’s got on the ball and played.

“He’s out now for six weeks with a hamstring injury so, it seems to go from bad to worse.

Bellegarde blow for Fer Lopez is right there

Bellegarde really is one of the last players Wolves need out with an injury.

Creativity has obviously been a major issue this season and while Bellegarde is not exactly an assists machine, he does undoubtedly have more to offer than most other players in and around the final third.

It’s far from ideal that he is now on the sidelines.

Wolves fans, who should take Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s place in the starting XI?

He'll be out injured for six or more weeks.

But Edwards does have Fer Lopez at his disposal, and the Spaniard has now come on in each of the last two games for Wolves.

Lopez is linked with a January exit from Wolves, but Bellegarde and also Marshall Munetsi’s injuries, surely have to encourage the decision makers to keep hold of him.

Fans were left impressed by Lopez against United and he also caught the eye off the bench against Arsenal, so hopefully he does stick around.
