Marshall Munetsi has been at Wolves for a couple of months now – but one player caught his eye instantly at Molineux.
The Zimbabwe international has made a decent start to life at the club after his £16 million move from Reims, and has gained the trust of manager Vitor Pereira.
He has scored one goal in Wolves colours so far. He should have far more to his name, having got into fantastic positions time and time again.
Hopefully they will soon come more regularly, but for now Marshall Munetsi cannot play in his usual number eight position, with two top players starring in Wolves’ engine room.
They are Andre and Joao Gomes – and the latter instantly caught Munetsi’s eye when he arrived at the club.
Marshall Munetsi lauds ‘special talent’ Joao Gomes

Munetsi spoke about Gomes after last night’s huge 1-0 win over West Ham United at Molineux.
Gomes signed a new contract with Wolves, which was something that rather came out of the blue.
Wolves fans were left elated by news of Gomes’ new contract – and Munetsi is certainly happy about that too.
Last week, Munetsi hailed Gomes, stating that everyone at the club ‘loves’ him.
And after last night’s game, he said: “I think he’s a special talent. The first time I got here, I knew already that this is a guy that would play at the highest level of football, even for the Brazil national team, even for us he’s very important.
“You see how he shows his passion on the pitch, so I think it’s very important the club acknowledged his work. We are happy to have him here.”
Joao Gomes new contract may be the biggest boost of 2025 for Wolves
2025 has been decent so far for Wolves, with Pereira getting the club back on the straight and narrow.
Obviously, the new contract for Matheus Cunha was huge news earlier this year.
But he has a £62.5 million release clause, which is highly likely to be triggered by someone in the summer. And all the talk about Cunha and that contract and his future is starting to feel draining for some.
But Gomes agreeing to fresh terms with no release clause is absolutely amazing news for the club.
This is a player who has been on a brilliant trajectory since he signed and is so good at what he does in midfield.
Gomes has been adored since day one by Wolves fans for essentially forcing his move to Molineux, and his popularity could not be higher right now.
The new deal pretty much assures he won’t be going anywhere this summer, and potentially the next one after that, too.
