Marshall Munetsi drops Tolu Arokodare prediction after sublime goal for Wolves vs Everton

Tolu Arokodare is off the mark for Wolves, after scoring in the 2-0 win against Everton in the Carabao Cup.

Wolves recorded a confidence-boosting victory, and got revenge on Everton after the recent 3-2 win for the Toffees in the Premier League.

Vitor Pereira made a host of changes to the team, and also tweaked the system to go with a back four.

That was a real curveball, with Wolves having so often played with three centre-backs.

But this game was an opportunity for Pereira to try and do something different – and his selections paid off with Ladislav Krejci shining for Wolves and Santiago Bueno also impressing.

Andre was also superb operating as a lone number six.

And it was great to see Tolu Arokodare get off the mark for Wolves, and after the game Marshall Munetsi gave a word about his new teammate.

Munetsi himself had a good game last night.

He is often criticised for lacking quality on the ball. But the Zimbabwe international can be effective, and does often get into the box to give himself and Wolves a chance of scoring.

He finished well last night to put Wolves ahead.

But Arokodare’s goal is the one most are talking about, given how coolly he put it away.

Hopefully that will be the first of many, and Munetsi has insisted Wolves’ £24 million signing stands to be a big player moving forwards.

He said (via Wolves official): “We were actually joking, because I wanted to see the celebration. So, it was really nice for him also to score, I think he’s going to be very important for us this season.

“It’s a League Cup game, but going to the league, I think it’s very, very good for him to get that confidence boost.”

Arokodare can ease goalscoring burden on Strand Larsen

Wolves fans lapped up Arokodare’s finish last night, and the Nigerian deserves real credit for executing that kind of finish. Pereira even admitted he did not expect that type of finish from Arokodare, praising the star’s confidence.

He had a lot of time to think about it, and there were a couple of other ways he could have finished, but he showed real composure to chip the ball over Travers.

We should not be too surprised though.

Arokodare scored 23 goals across all competitions last term and can be lethal in front of goal.

And that’s ideal for Wolves, who have needed another source of goals other than Jorgen Strand Larsen.

The number nine is under pressure to score regularly for Wolves, but Arokodare is definitely someone who can ease that burden.
