Marshall Munetsi admitted his Wolves ‘dream’ didn’t come true but urges fans to keep their eyes peeled

Wolves handed deadline day signing Marshall Munetsi his debut in the FA Cup, seeing the Zimbabwean impress almost instantly.

Vitor Pereira oversaw an impressive January transfer window as Wolves manager, welcoming three much-needed players.

Emmanuel Agbadou and Nasser Djiga signed to bolster in defence while Munetsi joined to add another defensive dimension in midfield.

Munetsi has been backed to be a success at Wolves by Matt Hobbs, with the sporting director’s early assessment being proven right following the 28-year-old’s debut.

Marshall Munetsi reveals the ‘dream’ he had for his Wolves debut

Signed from Stade Reims, Munetsi arrived at Molineux to rekindle his partnership with former teammate Agbadou.

Upon making his debut in the FA Cup against Blackburn Rovers, Munetsi earned rave reviews from several figures, including Pereira.

Pereira applauded Munetsi’s attacking ability, which will excite fans as the midfielder not only offers more security but, a goalscoring presence too.

The Zimbabwe international almost scored on his debut to mark his first appearance in style but, it wasn’t meant to be, something that the player himself commented on after the game.

“It would have been a dream come true [to score], but we have to save more goals for the upcoming games!” Munetsi told Wolves’ official website

“I was just happy to do a small part in the win today, and hopefully we can continue from here,” the midfielder added, urging fans to be patient as he hinted that the goals will come very soon.

Munetsi could become an instant hero if he were to score on his Premier League debut against Liverpool, with the league leaders welcoming Wolves to Anfield on Sunday.

Munetsi has a trick up his sleeve for Wolves

After making his debut, Munetsi admitted that he felt the love from Wolves fans who had travelled to Blackburn for the FA Cup win.

The Zimbabwean can expect even more at Anfield in the next outing and, the midfielder has suggested that supporters could see a goal from him soon.  

While Wolves signed the January arrival to offer more defensive support in midfield, Pereira has additionally added a further scoring threat.

Early signs suggest that Munetsi has a similar profile to Ruben Neves, which if history repeats itself, is a huge plus for the Old Gold.

Though the midfielder’s dream didn’t come true against Blackburn, Munetsi’s goalscoring prowess mustn’t be ignored ahead of his Premier League debut.
