Marshall Munetsi admits Wolves have a player who makes games ‘much easier’ for him

Marshall Munetsi finished the season in style, with a wonderful strike in Wolves’ final Premier League game against Brentford.

Wanderers played out a 1-1 draw with the Bees at Molineux to finish the campaign in 16th place in the table, on 42 points.

Wolves had been on a three-game losing streak, so it was important to avoid defeat in the final match.

And Wolves had Marshall Munetsi to thank for that, as he rifled in his second goal for the club in the 75th minute.

The Zimbabwe international has come in for a lot of stick in recent weeks for apparently lacking influence, but his goal against Brentford was of the highest quality.

And after the game, the humble midfielder was keen to talk up one of his teammates, who he feels makes games much easier for him.

Wolves were value for their point against Brentford.

At times Vitor Pereira’s side played some really nice stuff, and to have lost the game would have been extremely frustrating.

But Wolves’ goal did not come about as a result of pretty football. It was route one, with Emmanuel Agbadou punting the ball long from a goal kick.

Strand Larsen flicked it on brilliantly, with Munetsi finishing without even taking a touch.

Wolves’ number nine is certainly a player Munetsi likes playing with, as he said after the game: “Larsen has been very important and I think when I play closer to him, it’s much easier for me to get the second balls and to create chances from there.

“As soon as it bounced, you have the feeling that you hit it very well. This is something that is special.”

Strand Larsen has become integral for Wolves

It was perhaps no surprise to see Strand Larsen and Munetsi combining for a goal against Brentford.

Pereira has previously stated Munetsi is a major reason why Strand Larsen has improved at Wolves, as he’s a willing runner and someone who occupies defenders.

It’s a partnership that is continuing to grow, but Strand Larsen – who surpassed Raul Jimenez’s first season goal tally at Wolves – is a player many other Wolves players link up well with.

He is the common denominator for effective play in the final third.

When Matheus Cunha was suspended, he stepped up massively for Wolves and that bodes really well for next season as he looks to build on his haul of 14 goals.
