Mario Lemina has spoken about the connection he has formed with Wolves fans, insisting it always helps to give him ‘a second wave’.

The midfielder signed for Wolves in January and has quickly become a hugely popular figure at Molineux.

The 29-year-old has wowed with a string of brilliant performances for the club.

Many did not really expect him to be a regular starter when he signed, more a rotation option.

But Lemina came into the side and added bite and relentless energy to the midfield and Wolves are a much better team with him in it. And Julen Lopetegui has used him at almost every turned since his arrival.

He’s helped make Wolves much more competitive, and the crowd often feed off the way he plays.

Lemina is an infectious character.

The way he charges about the pitch is brilliant, and the feeling is that the future of Wolves’ midfield is in good hands.

On Saturday, Lemina was substituted off in the 89th minute.

He made his way off at the nearest point, and got to lap up the adulation of the crowd along with Matheus Cunha who had also made way.

They chanted his name, as they do most games now.

And Lemina has been speaking about that early connection he has formed with the supporters.

He said (via Wolves official): “I really like it, I enjoy it, and it makes me get the second wave all the time. It’s really good, all the players need this kind of things, and I’m going to fight until the end, that’s what I’m going to do.”

Mario Lemina’s performances have given the Molineux crowd life, he’s helped improve the mood and atmosphere

It is nice to hear Lemina acknowledging those that pay their hard earned money to watch him and sing his name.

He is definitely a crowd favourite at Molineux for his all-action style.

The mood at Molineux has really improved in recent weeks, and it’s down to the players showing much more fight, determination and quality.

And no one has epitomised that more than Lemina in the middle of the park.

He has had a completely transformative effect on the team, and it is little wonder he has been so well received by Wolves fans.
