Mario Lemina sends emotional message after Wolves’ win over Everton

Wolves recorded another brilliant win in the Premier League yesterday over Everton – and Mario Lemina sent an emotional message on social media afterwards.

Wanderers made it three wins in a row, beating Sean Dyche’s in-form Toffees at Molineux.

It was a brilliant performance from Wolves, and arguably the team’s best of the season to date.

Wolves were superior to Everton in all departments and played some lovely football at times. Max Kilman opened the scoring, bundling the ball home, before the brilliant Matheus Cunha and Craig Dawson grabbed further goals in the second-half.

It was an emotionally charged occasion at Molineux, with Wolves confirming before the game that Mario Lemina would not be available, after flying to France to be with family after his father sadly passed away. Lemina had revealed recently that he had been in hospital.

The players showed their support for Lemina by holding up his shirt after the goals – and Lemina last night sent a message on social media…

Lemina was at the forefront of everyone’s minds yesterday at Molineux.

Everyone is with the midfielder at this horrible time and wishes him and his family the very best heading into 2024.

It was truly heartwarming to see the gestures made at yesterday’s game, with the players holding Lemina’s shirt up to the crowd to show he is in their thoughts.

It’s very clear how loved he is in that dressing room, and Gary O’Neil’s post-match comments about the star were further proof of that.

Lemina did see all this outpouring of love yesterday at Molineux, and wrote an emotional message on Instagram yesterday evening, which was shown on Match of the Day.

He said: “Don’t make me cry guys. I love you guys. So much. Family.”

Yesterday just showed that Wolves are truly one big pack again.

Lemina is going through an awful time right now, so to see the players make those gestures with his shirt was a lovely touch and it just shows the togetherness of the squad.

It was also fantastic to see the players put in such a brilliant performance in the absence of their midfield general – almost as if they were doing it for him.

It must have been truly heartwarming for the 30-year-old to see what his teammates did for him, and hopefully he knows that everyone is with him.
